At the Blue Bistro restaurant we offer a fabulous a la carte menu featuring modern British cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. This Coventry restaurant's ethos is simple: a creative menu based upon great, preferably local, seasonal ingredients, ethically sourced and cooked with passion.

The menu changes often. We are a restaurant with a great team that love food and get excited about new recipes, ingredients and flavours. At Blue they have the freedom to use this excitement to produce great food. It is this freedom that brought Head Chef Sarah Jenkins and her team on board from other fine restaurants including, in the case of our pastry chef, one carrying a Michelin star.

Our passion extends to our wines. The list is almost exclusively European: partly because we are keen to maintain a focus but also because there are so many great wines available. These great wines include a selection from two local Warwickshire vineyards. All of this has helped us achieve an award for Notable Winelist from OpenTable.com diners. We also carry an extensive list of national and international beers - and some great soft drinks, including Pago, Belvoir and Fentimens, teas and coffees.

It is important to us that everything we do carries the same quality of our a la carte cooking. At lunchtime we offer a superb prix fixe menu, from £14.95, but even our popular 'Soup of the Day & a Baguette' for £5 features homemade soup and baguette fillings that include venison sausages that come from a herd at Charlecote Park that dates back to Tudor times.

And in the afternoons you might like to try our cream teas and cupcakes - all made freshly by our Jamie, our pastry chef - or just have a nice cup of coffee. Unlike many restaurants, we are happy to welcome children. Between 2pm and 6pm you can try one of Jamie's delicious cupcakes for £1.95 and have a free cup of tea or a coffee for only 50p!

The dining area at Blue covers two floors of a beautiful medieval building dating back to 1450, the exposed beams of which are complemented by striking wooden furniture to create an elegant ambiance and a unique dining experience.

Local is important to us. Our name and logo reflect our pride as a restaurant in Coventry. We buy our meat from Earlsdon Butchers, for example, because they meet our high standards for animal welfare and traceability - as well as being great butchers. Our fish comes from Clive Miller on Coventry Market, as does our coffee (from Ed's Coffee House).

Upstairs at Blue provides a fabulous setting for functions, from weddings to business meetings and seminars. It also offers some of the most perfect tables for two in what has been voted one of the top-ten most romantic restaurants in the UK and Ireland.

The restaurant is situated on the historic Spon Street, in Coventry City Centre, an easy walk from the Belgrade Theatre, the Skydome and its Odeon cinema, Ikea and, of course, Coventry Cathedral.

We offer a prix fixe two course lunch for £14.95 - and a three course for only £16.95, but we also have a selection of lighter options including a homemade gourmet steak burger or mini fish & chips for only £5!

...new weekend brunch menu

We've introduced a new artisan brunch menu for weekends that will run alongside the restaurant's lunch menu. The original inspiration was the American steak brunch - but we've really pulled together a fabulous selection that includes the most delicious egg dish, based upon Turkish Menemen, that any of us have tasted in a good long while.

The menu runs from midday to 4:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
